Heirloom Contender Bush Beans Planting Instructions

• Contender Bush Beans grow in full sun and take about 55 days to grow from planting to harvest.
• Direct sow the seeds 1 to 2 weeks after the average last frost. The soil temperature should be at least 65°F.
• Sow 1 seed every 4 inches, 1 inch deep, and in rows 18 to 24 inches apart.
• For a continued harvest, plant again every 1 to 2 weeks until 60 days before the expected first frost of fall.
• Skip planting when summer temperatures exceed 90°F.

Heirloom Contender Bush Beans Harvesting Instructions

When the pods snap and break in half cleanly, the beans are ready for harvest. Usually, this occurs just after the seeds have begun to form and the pods are 6 to 8 inches in length.

To harvest, hold the stem in one hand and the pod in the other.

Avoid pulling off the branches, as they may continue to produce pods.
